We are finally at the end of all the questions, or should I say, this article is the last of the questions we need to ask. These are the last 5 questions.
What kind of leader are you?
Before you even start your business, you need to identify the leader in you. It has been said that people resign from their jobs as a direct result of bad leaders, and not because they are bad employees. There are many different leadership styles or types. You just have to google “What type of leader are you?” to see this, but this question speaks to whether you are someone who can take responsibility for yourself and your choices or decisions. Do you struggle to delegate? What are your strengths and weaknesses?
How well do you listen?
Whether it be listening to you friend, wife, children or anyone else, the way you listen and your willingness to listen speaks a lot about who you are. So before you start your business, develop the skill of listening. There is a remarkable difference between hearing and listening. Hearing is the ability to perceive sound, while listening is the ability to pay attention, hear with thoughtful attention and give careful consideration.
Are you a man/woman of your word?
This will play a big role in the success of your business. Why? Because if you promise to get back to a client, and you don’t, you may just have lost your biggest customer.
How well do you communicate?
To succeed in business, you need to be a skilful communicator. You need to be able to effectively tell your employees what you want done, and you need to be able to effectively speak to your clients thus building a good relationship with both employees and clients. Your ability to communicate properly, says a lot about your business skills.
How good are you with solving problems?
No matter how good a leader you are, there will be times when you will have to solve problems, either with your staff or you clients, or sometimes both. The last thing you want is for a client or staff member to walk away from your business because you were unable to resolve a problem.
These are just a few questions you need to be asking yourself constantly if you plan to start a business, as many of these points have the ability to make or break your business. So thread softly and carefully.
